Activity Based Working (ABW) is a hot topic these days. Conceived as a business strategy which provides employees w/ a choice of settings to conduct work, ABW seeks to entice people to work where it is most conducive for them to complete their tasks. In ABW, office spaces are designed to provide a variety of workplace settings for activities ranging from intense, heads down focused work to impromptu and informal meetings as well as more formal settings. With this shift, gone are the days where employees are forced to accomplish all of their work in one setting, such as an assigned desk or cubicle.
